  • Cadet friendly carriculum encouraging active involvement without additional burden on students, with instructors acting as facilitators for developing competencies and nurturing talent both in an indicidual as well as a team centered environment.
  • Innovative, interesting and safe conduct of traing with high degree of visibility to inspire youth, duly supported by apporite training infrastructure and logistics support.
  • Professional training by dedicated and competent trainers through well designed “Train the Trainer” and knowledge upgrade programmes for trainers.

  • Offer a global perspective and exposure through Youth Exchange Programmes.
  • Regular re-appraisal to identify redundancies in the organization and curriculum so as to institute remedial measures.

In keeping with changing environment, the principles of NCC Training are:-
  • Junior Division/Junior Wing training to be for two year while Senior Devisioin/Senior Wing will be for three year.
  • Separate syllabi for Junior Division/Junior Wing and Senior Devision/Senior Wing.
  • Modified syllabus for professional educational institute of repute to encourage enrolment of cadets.
  • Revised curricula for training in mila\itary environment with greater emphasis on soft skill development, awareness of social resposibilities and adventure and sports.
  • Uniformity in syllabus for boys and girls.
  • Syllabus for all three wings will be as follows:-
    1.    Common Subject – 70 Percent;
    2.    Specialised Service Subject – 30 Percent;
  • Emphasis on practical training.
  • Conduct of periodic composite training, to include theory and practical, ensuring continuity for better learning assimilation and its application.


  • Successful implimentation of any training phylosophy lies in fromulation and implimentation of its methodology of conduct. The parameters and methods for imparting training are below:-

Institutional Training ::

  • The aim of training is to nurture core values, enhance awareness and give exposure to basic military skills and knowledge. Emphasis will be on practical training. Case study method of instructions, wherever possible, will be used to facilities active participation and better assimilation.Example from India’s freesom struggle and wars fought by india, post independence, should supplement relevant subjects to generate secular and patriotic fervour.

Camp Training  ::

  • The basic aim of Camps is to introduce cadets to regimented way of life. Camp trainig should be practical manifestation of institutional training. In addition to the Annual Training Camps, Special National Integration Camps and National Integration Camps will be conducted to make cadets understand and value the rich heritage of culture that forge unity despite the diverse language, traditions and regions of our country. Each Centrally Organized Camp will be of 12 days duration while annual training camps will be for 10 days. It will be mandatory for Junior Devision/Junior Wing Cadets to attend at least one camp and Senior Divison/Senior Wing Cadets to attend a minimum of two camps during the period of their enrolment.

Social Service and Comminity Development ::

  • The cadets must imbible their social and moral responsiblities as an Indian. They must comprehend their duties to their fellow citizen as also to their environment. Social Service activities will be stuctured to inspire and encourage the cadets to paticipate voluntarily towards improvemnt of physical; and social environment and channelize their energies in task of nation building. The focus will be on social ills prevailing in society and programms initiated by the goverment to alleviate them.

Youth Exchange Programme (YEP)  ::

  • The Youth Exchange Programme, presently being carried out with ten countries, will be extended to more countries so as to heighten awareness among participate and appreciate each other’s socio-economics, cultural realities and act as good will embassadors to projects our Nation’s image abroad. Participations of cadetsfrom our neighbouring countries in our adventure activities must be increased to achieve better integration

Adventure Based Learining  ::

  • Adventure based activities will beanhanced to enable cadets from all areas to hone leadership skills and enhance their character qualities. Treks and other centrally organised adventure activities will be increased to allows larger paricipations. These treks must aim to inculcate a love for adventure and nature. Cadets with potential, will be given opportunities to participates in expeditions requiring higher degree of expertise and proficiency.

Sports  ::

  • The NCC will faicilities access to high potencial sports like Football, hockey and Shooting to talented cadets with aim of participating in national level tournaments. In addition cadets will also be couraged to participate in low cost game like volleyball and Kabaddi so as to hone their team skills. The NCC as the largest youth body will initiate steps to contribute to India’s Mission Olympics.

Personality Development  ::

  • The life skills of cadets will be enhanced through a structured Personality Development Programme with specific attention to citizenship, social resposibility, parenting and peer manegement. Basic & Advance Leadership Camps will be revitalized to enable honing of leadership and team skill of cadets.

Training of Trainers :

  • Tfective traing is high quality instructors. The trainers will be empowed with requisite knowledge and neccessary materials, to teach their subjects effective through centrally organised courses cadres of OTAs and local cadres at Directorates level. The knowledge and standers of trainers will be kept contemporary by regular refresher training.

Infrastucture  ::

  • All efforts must be made to create and incorporate adequate and realistic training infrastructure. Nodes of Excellence must be created at Central and Directorate level so as to optimise resources. Professional assistance to run various specials programms be taken from various institute of national/international standing. Directorate must rais NCC Academies for undertaking camps and specialized traing. These academies shall have infrasture, both administrative and training, so that limited time available is effectively utilized.


  • Over the years, the NCC has emerged as one of India’s premier institutions for imparting systematic traing to youth. The trainng covers a wide spectrum ranging from soft skills to military activities.
  • India’s evolving socio-economic structure and the resultant aspirations have necessitated the review of our training philosophy. The idea is to evolve a fresh approach towards training that will be adequate in present and retain its relevance in the foreseeble future. THis pre-supposes synergy in application of available resources as well as an effective implementation strategy by dedicated trainers supports by modern infrastucture. An innovative and dynamic approach to training will enable transformation of NCC cadets into disciplined and responsible citizen capable of positive contribution towards nation building.
